Virtual Refugee Conference

06-03-2020

Apply for the Impact Prize! - deadline expired!

Too often, international and domestic conferences about forced migration lack representation and inclusivity, and present refugees as passive recipients, not as potential change-makers and innovators.

To mark World Refugee Day on 20 June 20 2020, together with our partners, Kiron is hosting the Virtual Refugee Conference - AMPLIFY NOW!. The inaugural conference theme is elevating new learning and strengthening communities. We will bring together refugees, NGOs, academics and employers for talks, discussions and collaborative and results-oriented exchange.

As a part of the Virtual Refugee Conference AMPLIFY NOW!, we are launching the Impact Prize to identify and celebrate innovative solutions from all around the world which elevate learning, inclusive for all, and most importantly, empower refugees.

Criteria for selection of Impact Prize

Solutions that address our theme “elevating new learning and strengthen communities” and most importantly:

    • Elevate learning: Learning and access to learning are key for successful integration into society and a self-determined life. Because learning affects all areas of life, it is in the centre of the prize.

    • Be inclusive to all: Real change and societal inclusion can only happen if all players are included to promote exchange on eye level. Instead of talking about and deciding for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, representatives of all stakeholders must be involved to find solutions that meet everybody’s needs.

    • Empower refugees: Refugees, including IDP and vulnerable host population, are among the most and cross-sectional marginalized and disadvantaged groups. At the same time, they hold great potential to equally enrich their host-countries or even the places they come from. Acknowledging this and on the special occasion of the World Refugee Day, they are the focus group for Kiron and this conference and its prize.

Submission of projects

  • Deadline: June 4, 2020 - deadline has expired! Many thanks for your great submissions!

  • All submitted ideas will be displayed on the conference website.

  • The opportunity for each registered participant to vote for one submitted project. The most voted project will win the Participants’ Prize. That is why you need to invite your friends and family to come to the conference and vote for your project!
